SURGERY TIMES

Both Green Road and Woodley Park surgeries are open from 8.30am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday and are by appointment only. Pre-bookable appointments are available as well as book-on-the-day and online booking. The practice is actively involved in delivering Advanced Access.

Patients are requested to call on the day they require to be seen and should be confident they will be seen. Patients may book appointments ahead if there is a specific need to be seen on a particular day.

Doctors are usually present at both surgeries between 8.30am and 11.00am and from 4.00pm to 6.00pm on Mondays to Fridays. Remember that between 11.00am and 4.00pm all doctors continue to work for the practice making house calls and running clinics etc.

If you cannot keep an appointment please let us know as soon as you can so that we can give the appointment to someone else. Approximately 10% of doctors’ and nurses’ time is lost due to patients not attending surgery and not giving us sufficient notice of cancellation.

EXTENDED HOURS

The surgery now offers extended hours for those patients who are unable to attend the surgery between 08:00am - 6.30pm. These are held on Tuesday, Wednesday and alternate Thursdays and Saturdays at the Green Road surgery only.

BRIEF HISTORY

The practice was established at 226 Wokingham Road over 50 years ago, probably as the NHS began, by Dr Penson and was conducted by his son.

In the early 50s Dr Morris took over and 10 years later expanded into a new surgery in Crockhamwell Road, Woodley. In 1988 the present surgery at Green Road was opened followed by a move from Crockhamwell Road to the Woodley Park Surgery in Headley Road in 1991.

We have since acquired 226 Wokingham Road to house the community team of District Nurses and Health Visitors and other practice facilities.

We are now a very modern, well-equipped practice on two sites.

We have an excellent computer system that contains the records of all our patients and assists us to provide our services efficiently and effectively.

We are committed to the health welfare of our patients and to providing the highest possible standard of health care services.

The practice aims to provide a wide range of services and is committed to developing those services within the resources made available to it by the NHS.
